HIS MAJESTY THE KING WILL VISIT THE JAMES JONES AND SONS LIMITED SAWMILL
Tuesday 3rd October 2023
At the James Jones and Sons Limited sawmill at Aboyne, His Majesty The King will tour the recently modernised facility to see how it has increased its production of construction timber as a renewable and recyclable building product substitute to the high carbon intensive alternatives such as steel and concrete.
The King will be met by the Lord-Lieutenant of Aberdeenshire, Mr Alexander Manson, and Chairman of James Jones and Sons Limited, Mr Tom R. Bruce-Jones, who will invite His Majesty on a tour of the facilities. As Prince of Wales, His Majesty previously visited the site in 1999.
After viewing the site from the log sorting cabin, His Majesty will walk across the flood defence area which was installed following flooding in December 2015 before moving to the operations room of the main sawmill. His Majesty will be introduced to the Site Manager, Primary Processing Manager and Sawline Operator to hear more about their work at the sawmill.
In the treatment plant, the King will meet long-serving employees, apprentices and a gap-year student working at the sawmill. After a short introduction from Mr Bruce-Jones, His Majesty will unveil a plaque commemorating the visit and sign the visitor book.
