THE PRINCE AND PRINCESS OF WALES TO ATTEND THE 80TH ANNIVERSARY OF HOLOCAUST MEMORIAL DAY

London

Monday 27th January 2025

The Prince and Princess of Wales will attend a ceremony to commemorate Holocaust Memorial Day and the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau on Monday 27th January in London. The event will bring together faith and civic leaders as well as survivors of the Holocaust and more recent genocides.

Holocaust Memorial Day is an internationally recognised date to remember the six million Jews murdered during the Holocaust, the millions of people killed under Nazi persecution and those killed in subsequent genocides.

On arrival at the event, Their Royal Highnesses will first meet survivors from the Holocaust to hear their personal stories.

Following this, the Prince and Princess will attend the ceremony where he will give a reading and they will light candles alongside young representatives from the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust and other partner organisations. The candles will act as a symbol to remember all those who lost their lives in the Holocaust and other genocides.

The ceremony will be broadcast on BBC1 at 7pm on 27th January.
