THE DUKE OF CAMBRIDGE TO LAUNCH NATIONWIDE PROGRAMME TO HELP VETERANS FIND WORK IN THE NHS

London

Thursday 18th January, 2018

The Duke of Cambridge will make two visits on Thursday 18th January to celebrate the national rollout of ‘Step into Health‘, a programme supported by the Royal Foundation to help ex-servicemen and women, their spouses and dependants find employment in the NHS.

Step into Health is an initiative created by the NHS, in conjunction with The Royal Foundation and Walking With The Wounded, to help provide a pathway from the military into the many career opportunities in the NHS.

The first Step into Health programme was trialled at the Norfolk & Norwich University Trust, where 78% of people who completed a work placement have gone on to secure employment, education or training within the NHS or healthcare.

His Royal Highness will visit Evelina London Children’s Hospital where he will meet veterans who are now working at the hospital, as well as patients and their families. He will then travel to the national launch of the scheme, hosted by NHS Employers at Chandos House, Mayfair, where he will give a speech on the importance and impact of the programme.
