Thursday, 15th November 2018

Her Majesty The Queen will attend the Anglo-Norse Society Centenary Reception at The Naval and Military Club, 4 St James’s Square, on Thursday 15th November. On arrival, The Queen will meet with King Harald V and Queen Sonja of Norway, who will undertake the visit alongside Her Majesty. Both Her Majesty The Queen and His Majesty King Harald V of Norway are joint Patrons of the Society.

The Centenary Reception offers an opportunity to recognise members of the Anglo-Norse Society who have made a positive contribution to its community and culture over the past 100 years.

Their Majesties will be introduced to the Anglo-Norse Society Council, before viewing the Society’s Almanac.

Their Majesties will also meet members, scholars and supporters of the Society, before signing the Society’s Almanac on departure.

Founded in 1918, The Anglo-Norse Society in London is a registered charity promoting understanding between Britain and Norway.

The Society hosts a programme of events, which include talks by British and Norwegian speakers on a wide variety of subjects, as well as film showings and excursions.

The Society also supports scholarships for British students to pursue graduate and postgraduate study in Norway. The membership in London is both British and Norwegian.
