PRINCE HARRY TO ATTEND INVICTUS GAMES TORONTO 2017

Friday 22nd September to Saturday 30th September, 2017

Prince Harry will attend the Invictus Games in Toronto, Canada from 22nd September to 30th September 2017 as Patron of the Invictus Games Foundation.

The Invictus Games, founded by Prince Harry, is an international sporting event for wounded, injured and sick (WIS) Servicemen and women, both serving and veterans. The Games use the power of sport to inspire recovery, support rehabilitation and generate a wider understanding and respect for the Armed Forces.

Following on from the inaugural Invictus Games in London in 2014, and then Orlando in 2016, Toronto will host the third Games, with more competitors and more nations than ever before. 550 competitors from 17 nations will take part in 12 adaptive sports. A focus for the Games this year is on family and friends and recognising the vital support they bring to competitors on their recovery journey.

During his time in Toronto, Prince Harry will have the chance to meet competitors from all participating nations, visit some training sessions and attend all 12 sports. He will attend and give speeches at the Opening and Closing Ceremonies.

His Royal Highness will also attend a few additional events whilst in Toronto. On the 23rd September he will visit the world-leading Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH). There His Royal Highness will find out more about the wide-ranging work of the Centre and meet some its researchers and clients who will share their stories.

On the 24th September Prince Harry will present The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Gold Awards of achievement to young Canadians.

The following day on the 25th September Prince Harry will attend the Canadian Institute for Military and Veteran Health Research (CIMVHR) conference.

On the 26th September His Royal Highness will attend a reception for the Invictus Games Foundation which will be attended by representatives from all nations participating in the Invictus Games Toronto 2017.
