The King will Host a Reception at Buckingham Palace Ahead of the COP27 Summit

His Majesty The King will host a reception at Buckingham Palace on Friday, 4th November 2022, ahead of the COP27 Summit. The reception will bring together over 200 international business leaders, decision makers and NGOs to mark the end of the United Kingdoms’s presidency of COP26 and look ahead to the COP27 Summit in Egypt.
The reception will facilitate discussion of sustainable growth, progress made since COP26 in Glasgow and collective and continued efforts to tackle climate change.
Guests will include the Prime Minister, The Rt Hon Rishi Sunak MP; COP President, The Rt Hon Alok Sharma MP; and US Special Presidential Envoy for Climate, Secretary John Kerry.
The Prime Minister will say a few words. His Majesty will then meet and hear from guests about practical measures to combat climate change and their plans for COP27 and beyond.
UK Presidency of COP26 and COP27 Summit
The UK hosted the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) in Glasgow on 31st October – 13th November 2021. The COP26 summit brought parties together to accelerate action towards the goals of the Paris Agreement and the UN Framework. Nearly 200 countries agreed to the Glasgow Climate Pact, committing to the goal of limiting the rise in global temperature to 1.5 degrees.
COP27 will be held in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt from the 6th to 18th November 2022.
