Thursday, 23rd May 2019

Her Majesty The Queen will visit the headquarters of British Airways, Heathrow, to mark their centenary year on Thursday, 23rd May 2019. On arrival, Her Majesty will meet the Chairman and Chief Executive of British Airways, Mr. Alex Cruz, and view a model building of the headquarters.

Her Majesty will then meet staff dressed in heritage uniforms, showcasing the history of British Airways uniforms from the 1930s to the present day. The Queen will also be introduced to staff who volunteer for the organisation’s community investment programme, Flying Start. This global charity partnership with Comic Relief aims to help children and young people secure better chances in life.

Afterwards, The Queen will visit the Heritage Centre, which displays the 100-year history of British Airways through artefacts and records such as aircraft models and historic photographs. During the visit, Her Majesty will also meet the British Airways volunteers who manage the Heritage Centre, and sign the visitor’s book.

Finally, in the building’s atrium, Her Majesty will meet employees from a cross-section of the workforce. The Chairman will then give a speech before Her Majesty unveils a plaque to commemorate the visit. The Queen will also receive a posy on departure.
