SUPERBLOOM at The Tower of London
A stunning display of flower blooms celebrating the Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty The Queen.
Opening Spring 2022
A VIBRANT SEA OF FLOWERS
Join us in 2022 to see the moat at the Tower of London flooded with millions of flowers to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty The Queen.
From spring next year, carefully chosen seed mixes will be sown in the moat at the Tower of London to create a vibrant sea of flowers that will continuously evolve from June to September, changing colours and patterns over the summer.
With a planting scheme designed to attract bees, pollinators and seed-eating birds, the garden will provide a biodiverse space to support different types of wildlife.
Bringing rich natural beauty to the heart of the Tower, visitors will have the chance to walk through the transformed space, taking time to slow down and bask in the simple joys of nature.
TRANSFORMING THE MOAT
Superbloom at the Tower of London will be the first stage of a permanent transformation of the famous moat into a new natural landscape in the heart of the City of London.
It will see the moat – designed in the 13th century to defend the famous fortress – become a welcoming new biodiverse habitat and a haven for pollinators and seed-eating birds.
In the past, the moat has been used as a medieval orchard, as a grazing ground for Victorian livestock, and even as allotments during the Second World War. The ‘Superbloom’ and new landscape will take inspiration from the moat’s long history with the aim of bringing nature back to the Tower’s urban landscape.
