THE DUKE OF SUSSEX WILL OFFICIALLY OPEN THE SILVERSTONE EXPERIENCE

Friday 6th March 2020

The Duke of Sussex will officially open The Silverstone Experience, a brand-new immersive museum that tells the story of the past, present and future of British motor racing, on Friday 6th March.

Located in a renovated Second World War RAF hangar at the entrance to the world-famous Silverstone circuit, The Silverstone Experience is the new home to the archive of the British Racing Drivers’ Club. The museum brings the extensive heritage of Silverstone and British motor racing to life through a dynamic, interactive and educational visitor experience. It celebrates the circuit and the country’s position at the heart of the global motorsport industry. Using the latest technology, The Silverstone Experience tells the amazing stories of people who have been part of the site, and the history of the sport, in order to inspire future generations. One of its main charitable missions is to inspire the next generation of engineers through its exhibitions and learning programme.

During his visit, the Duke will be joined by six-time Formula One World Champion, Lewis Hamilton MBE. Together they will tour the Silverstone Experience, where they will have the chance to view the different sections of the museum, try out some of the interactive displays such as the pit gun challenge and meet with some of the volunteers.

The Duke and Lewis will also meet with students from two local schools in the Tech Lab section, where they will be learning about the incredible science and technology that goes into racing. Before departing, the Duke will officially open the Silverstone Experience.
