The King to Host Reception in Support of Action on Global Biodiversity

HIS MAJESTY THE KING WILL HOST A RECEPTION AT BUCKINGHAM PALACE IN SUPPORT OF GLOBAL BIODIVERSITY

His Majesty The King will host a reception in support of action on global biodiversity. The reception will provide an opportunity to discuss the practical delivery of the Global Biodiversity Framework. Guests will include the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, The Rt Hon Thérèse Coffey MP, and ministers from the UK government.

The King will meet a number of CEOs who are members of the Sustainable Markets Initiative, as well as ministers from international governments and indigenous representatives.

UK Presidency of COP26 and the COP27 Summit

The UK hosted the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) in Glasgow on 31st October – 13th November 2021. The COP26 summit brought parties together to accelerate action towards the goals of the Paris Agreement and the UN Framework. Nearly 200 countries agreed to the Glasgow Climate Pact, committing to the goal of limiting the rise in global temperature to 1.5 degrees.

COP27 was held in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt from 6th to 18th November 2022. On 4th November 2022, His Majesty hosted a reception ahead of the COP27 summit.
