HIS MAJESTY THE KING WILL MEET STAFF AND FAMILIES AT ROYAL SCHOOL OF MILITARY ENGINEERING AS COLONEL-IN-CHIEF OF ROYAL ENGINEERS
Thursday 9th May 2024
His Majesty The King will meet the staff and families of 3 Royal School of Military Engineering (3RSME), the training base for the Army’s Royal Engineers. His Majesty will also meet members of 8 Engineer Brigade, which is the centre’s deployable unit.
On arrival, His Majesty will be met by the Lord Lieutenant Nigel Atkinson and Major General Miller, on behalf of the Royal Engineers. The King, who is Colonel-in-Chief of the Royal Engineers, will receive a salute from a Quarter Guard comprising officers from the school.
Inside the Officers’ Mess, His Majesty will hear from groups of engineering personnel and their families about their experiences training at the school and supporting their loved ones to become a Royal Engineer.
His Majesty will go on to meet officers from the 8 Engineer Brigade HQ, which provides engineering support to military operations.
Before departure, His Majesty will sign the regiment’s visitors’ book and receive gifts of flowers and Royal Engineer china mugs from the children of some of the barracks’ serving soldiers.
As Colonel-in-Chief of the Royal Engineers, The King visited the Royal School of Military Engineering earlier today.
