The Queen Consort will Present the Royal Academy of Dance’s Queen Elizabeth II Coronation Award

HER MAJESTY THE QUEEN CONSORT WILL PRESENT THE ROYAL ACADEMY OF DANCE’S QUEEN ELIZABETH II CORONATION AWARD AT BUCKINGHAM PALACE

The Queen Consort will present the Royal Academy of Dance’s (RAD) highest honour, the Queen Elizabeth II Coronation Award.

Her Majesty will first be introduced to the Chief Executive of the RAD, Tim Arthur, President of the RAD, Dame Darcey Bussell, renowned dancer and former recipient of the award, Carlos Acosta, and the 2022 recipient, Mikhail Baryshnikov, in the White Drawing Room.

Her Majesty will then join guests in the Music Room where she will host her first solo reception as Queen Consort.

Carlos Acosta will read a citation before inviting the Queen Consort to the stage. Her Majesty will present The Queen Elizabeth II Coronation Award to Mikhail Baryshnikov in recognition of his immense contribution to ballet and the wider world of dance.

Guests will include previous recipients of the award as well as supporters and guests of the RAD from the world of dance.

Recent Visits Her Majesty has a long-standing relationship with the RAD:

In March 2022 the then Duchess of Cornwall, Vice-Patron of RAD, opened the new Royal Academy of Dance global headquarters.

In June 2021 the then Duchess attended the V&A Museum to view their centenary exhibition On Point: Royal Academy of Dance At 100.

In April 2020 the then Duchess hosted a virtual meeting to discuss Silver Swans with Dame Darcey Bussell and RAD’s Silver Swans Ambassador, Angela Rippon.

In November 2019 the then Duchess met Silver Swans in Christchurch, New Zealand.

In February 2018 the then Duchess visited the Royal Academy of Dance’s previous headquarters.
