THE DUKE OF YORK WILL VISIT SOUTH KOREA

 12th May to 16th May 2019

His Royal Highness The Duke of York will visit South Korea from 12th to 16th May 2019, undertaking a programme of official engagements in Seoul and Andong.

Twenty years after Her Majesty The Queen and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh’s State Visit to South Korea, The Duke will visit Hahoe Village in Andong City, revisiting The Queen’s programme here from April 1999.

While in Seoul, The Duke’s visit will encompass his core areas of focus; Business and Entrepreneurship, and Science, Technology and Engineering. Committed to supporting the development of Entrepreneurship globally, HRH will host the first ever Pitch@Palace event in South Korea on 15th May. Founded by The Duke in 2014 to provide a platform to amplify and accelerate the work of Entrepreneurs, Pitch@Palace helps to guide and connect early-stage businesses with potential supporters.

At the event, 15 Entrepreneurs will Pitch their innovative tech business ideas to an Audience of influencers who have the ability to catapult their businesses to the next level. Pitch@Palace South Korea 1.0 will showcase some of the best Entrepreneurial talent from across South Korea on a broad technology theme, including Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Medical Technology and Blockchain.

HRH will also attend the Asian Leadership Conference; an annual international conference which seeks to address pressing issues facing Asia today.

The Duke of York has previously visited South Korea on three occasions, most recently in September 2008, and prior to that in November 2005 and April 2001. Her Majesty The Queen and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh undertook a State Visit to South Korea from 18th April to 22nd April 1999, visiting Seoul and Andong.
