HIS MAJESTY THE KING MARKS THE 35TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE KING’S FOUNDATION AS THE CHARITY LAUNCHES A YEAR OF CELEBRATIONS
Wednesday 15th January 2025
His Majesty The King, Royal Founding President, will join community representatives, students, alumni and ambassadors to celebrate the launch of The King’s Foundation 35th anniversary year at Dumfries House, Cumnock.
The King’s Foundation is a charity founded by His Majesty as Prince of Wales and was formed in 1990. The charity is inspired by the vision and values of His Majesty, who remains its Royal Founding President. The foundation works to build sustainable communities and transform lives, with an emphasis on protecting and promoting nature.
The charity’s early work at the Institute for Architecture formed the basis of the expanding work that it carries out today and laid the foundations for The King’s Foundation. The institute worked to build sustainable towns and cities, with Poundbury as an early project.
The King’s Foundation has, over the past 35 years, enriched the lives of hundreds of thousands of people, through its community regeneration projects, education programmes and international reach.
At a celebratory event at Dumfries House, the King will place the first item into The King’s Foundation’s 35th anniversary time capsule, marking the start of a year of celebrations.
Throughout its 35th year, The King’s Foundation will collect items for the time capsule which individuals feel represent the achievements and legacy of The King’s Foundation. The items will focus particularly on what inspired people to devote their time to protecting the built and natural world. Once collated, the time capsule will be buried on the Dumfries House estate and opened a hundred years from now.
Before departure, His Majesty will also have the opportunity to speak to members of the local community, ambassadors and alumni.
