THE PRINCE OF WALES WILL VISIT DEPAUL UK IN LONDON

Thursday 19th January 2023

The Prince of Wales will visit Depaul UK’s London hub to highlight the work they are doing to help young people experiencing homelessness or insecure housing, as well as prevent it occurring in the first place, both in the capital and across the UK.

The issue of homelessness has long been a cause that His Royal Highness is passionate about. He is patron of homelessness charities The Passage and Centrepoint and last year joined a Big Issue vendor on the streets of London.

In a subsequent article for the magazine, the Prince wrote: “I refuse to believe that homelessness is an irrevocable fact of life. It is an issue that can be solved, but that requires a continued focus and comprehensive support network.”

The work of Depaul UK embodies this ethos, with services going far beyond meeting short-term accommodation needs. Depaul UK offers tailored, long-term support to help individual clients address the issues that have led to their homelessness and ultimately live and work independently. By delivering workshops with schools they arm young people with the knowledge and skills they need to navigate life’s challenges and prevent youth homelessness, and using research they have commissioned and feedback from clients, they work with government, local authorities, religious groups and other NGOs to develop new ways of responding to homelessness and to help chart a path towards ending it entirely.

During the visit, His Royal Highness will learn more about some of these strands of work as he meets with staff who deliver these services. He will also have the opportunity to speak with clients, past and present, to understand how this support impacts their lives both at that crisis point that requires immediate intervention and then throughout their journey with Depaul UK towards independent living and working.

THE PRINCE AND PRINCESS OF WALES WILL VISIT BOSTON FOR THE 2022 EARTHSHOT PRIZE AWARDS

The Prince and Princess of Wales will travel to Boston for the second annual Earthshot Prize awards ceremony which is taking place in the city on Friday 2nd December.

Inspired by President John F. At this year’s awards ceremony, the Prince and Princess will join activists, innovators, policy makers and performers to celebrate the 2022 cohort of fifteen global finalists before the five winners are awarded.

Their visit will see them attend a special event with the Mayor of Boston, Michelle Wu, as well as a visit by the Prince to the John F. The money raised from the show helps hundreds of entertainers in the UK who need help and assistance as a result of old age, ill-health, or challenging times.

The 2022 Royal Variety Performance will be the 95th to take place. The first was held in 1912 at the Palace Theatre, London, attended by Their Majesties King George V and Queen Mary.

The evening will be hosted by Lee Mack and will include performances from Nile Rogers & Chic, George Ezra, Ellie Goulding, Sam Ryder, Becky Hill, the cast of the musical Cabaret and the cast of Cirque du Soleil. The Royal Variety Charity also continues to manage its own care home, Brinsworth House in Twickenham. The nursing and care staff ensure that the home remains a place of safety, peace, and happiness for retired members of the entertainment industry. Over the past year, the home has been upgraded with newly refurbished rooms for residents and staff, all supported by the ticket sales for the Royal Variety Performance.

On the night, Their Royal Highnesses will meet performers as well as Royal Variety Charity and ITV executives, both before and after the show.
