Engagement 2:

The Prince of Wales will speak at the Breakthrough Energy Summit, an event which brings together leaders in technology, policy, science, academia, and business to collaborate on innovative climate solutions.

Over 1,200 participants are expected to attend the 2024 Summit, which will highlight and build upon the positive momentum and actions taking place across the climate innovation space, giving a real-time look into both the potential impact of emerging technologies, and the demanding road ahead.

His Royal Highness will meet Bill Gates, founder of Breakthrough Energy and will tour the Innovation Showcase displaying some of the leading climate innovations being developed around the world. The fashion industry diverts 92 million tonnes of textiles to incinerators or landfills each year, and less than one percent is recycled into new clothing. Circ’s technology unlocks the ability to recycle synthetic textiles, thereby reducing the amount of waste that ends up in landfills and incinerators each year. The Summit will also include remarks from a 2022 Earthshot Prize winner, 44.01, which has created a way to permanently store CO2 using the natural power of mineralization.
